چکیده

We investigate the evaluation of the Dirac index using symplectic geometry in the loop space of the corresponding supersymmetric quantum mechanical model. In particular, we find that if we impose a simple first class constraint, we can evaluate the Callias index of an odd dimensional Dirac operator directly from the quantum mechanical model which yields the Atiyah-Singer index of an even dimensional Dirac operator in one more dimension. The effective action obtained by BRST quantization of this constrained system can be interpreted in terms of loop space symplectic geometry, and the corresponding path integral for the index can be evaluated exactly using the recently developed localization techniques.

In order to describe non-Hamiltonian (dissipative) systems in quantum theory we need to use non-Lie algebra such that commutators of this algebra generate Lie subalgebra. It was shown that classical connection between analytic group (Lie group) and Lie algebra, proved by Lie theorems, exists between analytic loop, commutant of which is associative subloop (group), and commutant Lie algebra (an ...

I briefly review the outcomes of two very different old questions – where global SUSY improves on ordinary QFT – when they are in turn posed in the local, SUGRA, context. The first concerns the unexpectedly powerful role of the " Dirac square root " graded algebra relation E = Q 2 , originally found in D=4 SUSY by Gol'fand and Likhtman, in proving positive energy theorems both in SUGRA and in o...

In orbifold compactifications on T 2/Z2 with Scherk-Schwarz supersymmetry breaking, it is shown that (brane-localised) superpotential interactions and (bulk) gauge interactions generate at one-loop higher derivative counterterms to the mass of the brane (or zero-mode of the bulk) scalar field. These brane-localised operators are generated by integrating out the bulk modes of the initial theory ...

We discuss a refinement of triangular factorization for unitary matrix-valued functions on S. 0. Introduction The purpose of this paper is to generalize Theorems 0.1 and 0.2 below to general simply connected compact Lie groups. Throughout the paper K̇ is a simply connected compact Lie group, Ġ is the complexification, and LfinK̇ (LfinĠ) denotes the group consisting of functions S → K̇ (Ġ, respecti...

Bundles and Rigidity

In this paper, we establish rigidity and vanishing theorems for Dirac operators twisted by E8 bundles. Introduction Let X be a closed smooth connected manifold which admits a nontrivial S1 action. Let P be an elliptic differential operator on X commuting with the S1 action. Then the kernel and cokernel of P are finite dimensional representation of S1. The equivariant index of P is the virtual c...
